The fastener material determines the strength, brittleness, corrosion resistance, galvanic corrosion properties, and cost. These fasteners come in different material grade and a variety of coatings to enhance the corrosion resistance and/or their appearance.

Designed specifically for premium metal roof and wall applications, our fasteners comply with standard AS 3566 that requires minimum corrosion resistance levels under accelerated testing of 1000 hours, salt spray testing, 15 cycles acid rain testing, 2000 hours testing for organic coatings and 1000 hours humidity testing.

The testing of new types of coatings and fasteners, which have appeared since the introduction of AS 3566 in conjunction with ZINCALUME® and COLORBOND®, have taught the industry many valuable lessons. One such lesson is that stainless steel fasteners have been shown to be incompatible with COLORBOND® and cause premature corrosion of roofing sheets.

We specify that fasteners must at least meet AS 3566 Class 3 if the basic objective of having fastener and cladding compatible life spans is to be met.
