Length
We supply Metlok® 500 sheeting up to a maximum length
of 35 meters depending on availability of delivery.
Lengths to be manufactured by Metroll should be site
measurements, not those taken off plans.
Handling of Material
When handling Metlok® 500 care should be taken at
all times to preserve the quality of the finish. Packs
should be kept dry and stored above ground level whilst
on site. However if sheets do become wet, they need
to be separated, wiped and placed in the open to dry.
Walking on Sheeting
When walking on Metlok® 500 roof sheeting always
wear flat rubber soled shoes and be careful to walk
over areas where you have purlin or batten supports.
The specified walking path on Metlok® 500 is either
pan next to the lapped edge ribs.
Sheet Laying Sequence
Fix the first line of clips, locating so that the roof
will be square. One clip is fitted to every support
using the correct fastener, with arrows pointing in
the direction of laying.
Lay the first sheet with the correct overhand each end,
the female and centre ribs go onto the clips and must
be snapped home by pressing into the clips. Fix the
second row of clips, placing the short leg over the
male rib of sheet 1.
Preparation
Ensure that the tops of the purlins or battens are all
in one plane by packing or easing between purlin and
support (not between purlin and clip).
Stop Ending
For roof pitches below 150, turn the pans at the top
of sheets up 900 using a turn-up tool. This prevents
the entry of water that has been driven by the wind
beneath the flashing.
Lipping
For roof pitches below 150, turn the pans at the bottom
of the sheets down at 300 using a turndown tool to prevent
water running back along the underside of the sheet.
Note: Turn Up and Turn Down Tools can be ordered with
sheeting.
Fastening Sheets to Supports
Metlok® 500 may be crest fixed to timber or steel
roofing or walling supports, or valley fixed to steel
supports or timber walling supports. Do not locate fasteners
less than 25mm from ends of sheets.
Availability & Delivery
Prompt and efficient delivery is assured. Please contact
us for the relevant delivery days to your area. You
can help us to supply you material in good order by
ensuring that you have made suitable arrangements to
have our trucks unloaded. To prevent damage when lifting
long lengths of sheeting by crane please take care to
ensure that the load is spread. Where a crane cannot
be made available it is the customers responsibility
to provide sufficient labour to assist the driver in
unloading.
