Corrosion Resistant COLORBOND®

Very Severe Coastal & Industrial Environments
The most demanding of Australian building environments
are coastal and industrial areas. When building within
close proximity to breaking surf, high concentrations
of salt in the atmosphere can play havoc with all but
the toughest of building materials. Similarly, the effects
of industrial or chemical emissions calls for steel
range made specifically with severe environments in
mind.
COLORBOND® Stainless steel is the recommended material
for coastal areas where there is a constant salty smell
and salt spray in the air. Generally, these conditions
are found within approximately 100meters of breaking
surf or within close proximity to industrial emissions.
If headlands funnel the prevailing winds across a beach
when strong surf is breaking, the area affected could
be extended significantly. Check with your builder or
architect, or call us.
Severe Coastal & Industrial Environments
COLORBOND® Ultra steel is the recommended material
for environments where there may still be a smell of
salt or salt spray in the air. Unless severely affected
by prevailing winds, the influence of the coastal or
industrial environment begins to decline quite rapidly
at approximately 100-200meters from breaking surf. Similarly,
the effects of industrial emissions (fumes and/or particulate
fallout) are typically lessened 100 to 200m from the
source.
